About Us

Mango Communications was founded in 2008 by Patrick Murphy. Mango has its roots in the Rice University Wireless Open-Access Research Platform (WARP) project. As a graduate student, and later as project manager, in Rice's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Patrick helped conceive and build WARP. He designed the first generation of WARP hardware, implemented WARP's MIMO OFDM physical layer transceivers and helped manage all the engineering and support activities of the WARP team.

In 2007, the Rice team starting distributing WARP hardware to wireless researchers at select institutions. Starting in the summer of 2008, Mango assumed responsibility for the manufacture, sales and support of WARP hardware. As of August 2009, the platform has been adopted by 50+ research groups around the world.
